Information regarding the NDIS Practice Standards and accompanying NDIS Rules is now available following publication on the Australian Government Federal Register of Legislation in Parliament. Parliament has 15 days to consider and if no objections are made the Rules and Standards will come into effect from 1 July 2018.

NSW and SA are the first two States that the NDIS Rules and Practice Standards will apply to (all other States and Territories will continue to require service providers to meet the relevant State based quality frameworks until the State/Territory fully transitions to the NDIS in 2019 or 2020 for WA).

While the documents that have been tabled are quite extensive, the information can be used to start understanding the Standards and indicators that service providers seeking to or delivering NDIS support will be assessed to.  This link takes you to the full legislative document “National Disability Insurance Scheme (Provider Registration and Practice Standards) Rules 2018.
